McHappy Day
Members and Staff of the Police Service have been thrilled to participate in the annual McDonalds McHappy Day. McHappy Day is a very special day at McDonalds. It is part of a exciting effort to raise funds in support of Canadian children in need. One dollar from the sale of every Egg McMuffin, Happy Meal and Big Mac Sandwich is donated to Westman Dreams for Kids and other local children’s charities across Canada. Law Enforcement Torch Run
The Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) is a fund raising event held yearly in order to raise money for the Special Olympics. In 2008, approximately 40-50 people participated in the torch run, which included special athletes, police officers and civilians interested in aiding the cause. These folks ran from Leech Printing on Braecrest Avenue towards 18th street, and then down to the Wal-Mart, where a BBQ was hosted in support of the event. A senior member of the Brandon Police Service as well as one from the Winnipeg Police Service then made their way up to the rooftop of the Wal-Mart where they camped out in order to fundraise for the event. A total of $7769.57 was raised and all the proceeds were then donated to the Special Olympics. If you have any questions regarding the LETR, or would like to participate in future torch runs, contact Community Services at 729-2378 |
