Employment Income by Sex and Work Activity Southwest Economic Region Average employment earnings for part year or part time workers are similar among the sub-regions of the Southwest Economic Region, though slightly higher in the City of Brandon than in the towns and villages and rural areas. Between males and females, males had higher average earnings for part time or part year work (in all sub-regions) in 2005. The gap between the average earnings of full time, full year workers in the City of Brandon and the averages in the other sub-regions is somewhat larger than for part-year, part time workers. This is also the case for males and females who worked full-year, full time – the gap between the genders was larger than for part-time, part-year workers, in all sub-regions. The City of Brandon again had higher averages than the other sub-regions, and males had higher earnings than females. The earnings for full year, full time workers ranged from a low of $28,119 for females in the rural areas, to a high of $47,007 for males in the City of Brandon.
